■ Job Description In order to acquire, promote, and manage R&D projects involving numerical AI (prediction and optimization) and strengthen the organizational structure, you will primarily be responsible for the following tasks in collaboration with the R&D Director, Deputy Director, and other group managers: - Direct, manage, and evaluate a group of approximately 10 members in collaboration with one other leader. - Collaborate with sales members to understand client needs and propose R&D projects to clients. - Provide a bird's-eye view of and manage the status of multiple individual projects (approximately 5) managed by on-site leaders. (Make decisions to appropriately add or reduce people, materials, and funds, as well as delegate and intervene in project promotion tasks) - Mentor and train group members (especially on-site leaders of individual projects). (*) This position is not expected to involve practical tasks such as coding. We expect you to be able to provide technical advice from a high-level perspective.
Ideal Profile
Required Skills - Advanced expertise in general machine learning - Expertise in mathematical optimization or numerical prediction, with at least 5 years of work experience - Problem understanding through data analysis, EDA, feature extraction, and appropriate model selection - Implementation experience in Python, R, C++, etc. - Project management experience - English proficiency sufficient for minimal communication with non-native Japanese speakers in one-on-one meetings and evaluation interviews (TOEIC score of 720 or above) - Native-level Japanese proficiency Preferred Skills - Experience submitting, presenting, and peer-reviewing papers at international conferences and domestic/international journals - PhD - Active participation in academic conferences and other events in the field of machine learning - Experience in patent creation and intellectual property strategy planning Desired Profile - A candidate who shares our vision and mission - Deep knowledge and academic insight in AI - A candidate who can propose solutions to unknown challenges as well as existing ones - A PhD-level researcher who can lead a team and project and effectively explain their work to clients
Work Location
Fully remote work is acceptable (regardless of location within Japan). Headquarters: 305 Hokkaido University Business Spring, 2-2 Kita 21-jo Nishi 12-chome, Kita-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido (No smoking indoors). Tokyo Branch: ACN Nihonbashi Hamacho Building, 1-10 Nihonbashi Hamacho 2-chome, Chuo-ku, Tokyo (No smoking indoors).
Phd. Stating Salary
Annual salary: 6 million to 10 million yen *The above amount includes 25 hours of assumed overtime per month.
