[Job Description] [Overview] Toyota is focusing on the development of humanoid robots to solve social issues such as labor shortages and the replacement of hazardous work, and to build human progress and a prosperous future by inspiring people. In particular, recent innovations in learning technology have dramatically expanded the possibilities in this field, but this requires not only advancements in software but also advancements in supporting hardware. To further accelerate this research and development, we are recruiting highly skilled individuals who have research results and achievements, can actively participate as researchers themselves, and can lead collaboration and development with research institutions both domestically and internationally. [Details] - Overall design and mechanical design of highly physical humanoid robots - Promotion of collaborative research with domestic and international research institutions - Participation in top domestic and international conferences, research presentations, etc. ■Expected role for this position: Member, Team Leader, Manager [Background of Recruitment] We are strengthening recruitment from the following two perspectives: - To reinforce personnel with deep knowledge of dynamics and accelerate motion control development - To incorporate machine learning knowledge into the motion control of humanoid robots AI-based learning for legged robot control is a major trend, and examples of its application to bipedal robots are gradually being seen. Furthermore, from a hardware perspective, when elements of soft robotics are added, it is sometimes not possible to consider it as a completely rigid body, and the realization of control systems using machine learning is desired. Therefore, we expect you to contribute by catching up with the world's most advanced technologies, incorporating your own theories, and refining them into technologies that can be used in real environments. Research for the Future TECH PLAY/Toyota's Humanoid Robots ◆Workplace Mission At the Future Creation Center, we conduct research and development that looks beyond mobility to encompass a wide range of business applications, including the surrounding environment, robots, services, and social systems. The Dynamic Robotics Group works on humanoid robot research and development under a policy of simultaneously pursuing research and development of next-generation technologies while providing many opportunities to gain on-site experience through demonstration activities of humanoid robots in collaboration with other industries. 【Job Satisfaction/PR】 ◆Job Satisfaction ・Various experts come together as one team without barriers, and development is carried out with a sense of unity. Within this, we are actively engaged in the research and development of humanoid robots as a promising area for the future. We have collaborated with many other industries from the perspective of creating new value through humanoid robots x [something], and our strength lies in already having many opportunities for demonstration. Furthermore, we have robots ranging from small ones of about 70cm to large ones exceeding 2m, allowing us to develop using various hardware platforms depending on the application. Furthermore, we are focusing on the research and development of next-generation humanoid robots that fundamentally review elemental technologies with a medium- to long-term perspective, and concentrate on further improving their mobility. Through collaborative research, we are able to advance development in broad cooperation with leading researchers and engineers both inside and outside the company.
Ideal Profile
◆Preferred Experience/Skills - Experience presenting at peer-reviewed international conferences - Experience in the entire development process of robots, from design and fabrication to electrical systems, control, evaluation, and debugging - Experience implementing dynamics simulations, experimental code, and evaluation code - Experience with reinforcement learning control using physical simulators
