*In SUMCO's job descriptions, the "Technology Development" and "Evaluation Technology" roles, handled by the Evaluation and Fundamental Technology Department, are listed as equivalent to "Basic Research." [Technology Development (Evaluation and Fundamental Technology Department)] - We develop elemental technologies for new products and manufacturing processes to create next-generation, high-value-added new products, and explore their potential product applications. - By building simulation technologies for process development, we visualize process analysis related to crystal growth, wafer processing, heat treatment, and vapor phase growth, leading to the development of wafers with new functions and the elucidation of physical phenomena occurring during processes. In technology development, the level of "fundamental technology" possessed is reflected in the difference in responsiveness and competitiveness. As the source of the technologies that underpin SUMCO's vision of becoming "the world's number one company in technology," it is truly a headlight illuminating the future of SUMCO's technology. [Evaluation Technology (Evaluation and Fundamental Technology Department)] - To solve process challenges for SUMCO and its customers, we evaluate wafers using various approaches such as chemistry, electricity, and physics, clarify the causes of various defects inherent in wafers, and work to eliminate their impact on devices. Evaluation technology is a fundamental technology for creating high value-added products.
