Work Detail

The following work is related to the R&D task "Evaluation of planar ion traps using Ba ions" of the Moonshot Objective 6 R&D project "Optical-connected fault-tolerant quantum computers using ion traps." Research and development will be conducted on the fundamental technology for applying 133Ba+ as a quantum bit in optically-connected fault-tolerant quantum computers using ion traps. Specifically, this will involve constructing a Ba+ trapping system using a linear Paul trap or a planar ion trap, establishing technology for isotope-selectively trapping ions of barium, which has a variety of isotopes, establishing laser cooling and Coulomb crystallization technology, and conducting research on quantum information processing based on these technologies. The following work related to the R&D theme "characterization of planar ion traps with Ba ions" of the Moonshot Research and Development Project "Fault-tolerant Quantum Computer Specifically with Photonically Interconnected Ion Traps": To research and develop fundamental technology for applying 133Ba+ as a qubit for error-tolerant quantum computers with photonically interconnected ion traps., 1. To construct a Ba+ trap system using a linear trap Paul or a planar ion trap. 2. To establish a technology to trap ions isotope-selectively for barium, which has a variety of isotopes. 3.To establish laser cooling and Coulomb crystallization technology. 4. To conduct research on quantum information processing based on these technologies.
