- [AD/Autonomous Driving] In-house development of autonomous driving technology (medium to low speed level 4)
【Features】
We are creating a world-leading automobile factory by utilizing autonomous driving technology (medium to low speed Level 4) within our factory. Wouldn't you like to help create the standard of 10 years from now?
【Job Description】
You will develop an innovative production line that utilizes autonomous driving technology (medium to low speed Level 4) to remotely automate vehicles during production, in collaboration with the production engineering, manufacturing, and vehicle development departments.
The development will encompass all technologies necessary for autonomous driving integrated with infrastructure equipment, including vehicle position and surrounding worker recognition using infrastructure equipment (e.g., cameras, Lidar), optimal trajectory generation, operation quantity calculation, vehicle actuator control development, and optimal communication system design.
In in-house software development, you will be responsible for the entire process, from defining requirements for autonomous driving functions necessary for realizing next-generation production lines, to algorithm consideration, software design, implementation, and evaluation, using an agile development style that actively utilizes Scrum and test-driven development.
We leverage the strengths of related departments and companies to define and develop requirements such as safety, scalability, maintenance, and cost for the production line as a unified whole. ■Expected Roles for this Position: Member, Team Leader, Manager
【Background of Recruitment】
To evolve Toyota's factories into the world's most advanced automobile factories using autonomous driving technology, we need the power of individuals with diverse and broad backgrounds and skills. We welcome not only those with experience in the automotive industry, but also those considering a career change from other industries. Please leverage your past experience and strengths to bring new insights and values to the development team.

【Workplace Image & Mission】
Developing production technology utilizing autonomous driving technology is an unknown territory where no one knows the right answer. Therefore, we value open communication of opinions regardless of age or position, and the team autonomously advances development. Furthermore, we have a culture where proactive attempts at new technologies to explore unknown areas are supported not only by team members, but by all members of the workplace with diverse backgrounds and skills. In addition, we incorporate measures to encourage mutual growth through daily trial and error as a team, such as setting aside time to learn new technologies.
Remote work is increasingly being implemented, and regular software development and some testing are conducted online. Large-scale tests may be conducted by traveling to the factory.
Together with the production technology/manufacturing technology workplace, we aim to evolve Toyota's factories into the most respected and noteworthy automobile factories in the world.
We accurately identify the challenges faced by factories and deliver timely solutions using autonomous driving technology. Furthermore, the technology honed in the factory can be delivered to customers as products and services beyond factory use.
In this work, we handle information related to strengthened US export restrictions, so we thoroughly manage information, including managing access rights to information for each individual.
[Job Satisfaction/PR]
・You can be broadly involved in the development of "perception, judgment, and operation," which are the foundations of autonomous driving technology, from both equipment and vehicle perspectives. By developing the entire autonomous driving technology in-house using an agile methodology, you can comprehensively acquire autonomous driving technology and the software technology that realizes it.
・The innovative production lines we develop are planned to be deployed not only in Japan but also in factories around the world. You can witness the moment when the technology you create changes the landscape of automobile factories and the way things are made around the world.
• We maintain close communication with production and manufacturing technology departments, working together to advance development. Because we have many opportunities to communicate with people from various technical fields, we can gain a broad perspective not only on design but also on car manufacturing and the entire manufacturing process.
• We can directly interact with the production technology department, who are the users of our products, and gain experience in developing truly valuable functions based on user challenges, considering all possible means. Furthermore, the factory environment allows for the introduction of new technologies and frequent improvements, offering opportunities for significant challenges. As a result, we can actually witness the evolution of the production line and the joy it brings to users, which is incredibly rewarding.
