Work Detail

To contribute to a stable energy supply to Japan, diverse engineers from across nationalities pool their expertise in energy development projects. Each of these ambitious projects, which unfold over long periods, can truly be described as a challenge to the planet. Business Fields: Oil & Natural Gas, Renewable Energy, Climate Change Response (Decarbonization & CCUS), Hydrogen & Ammonia, DX Recruitment Positions: Geoscience (GS) / Subsurface (SS) / Energy Transformation (EX/HSE) / Research Institute (Technical Research Institute) [Geology (Geoscience)] Based on geological analysis using geological data, we evaluate underground resources (oil, natural gas, geothermal) and CCS/CCUS potential, and conduct site selection and development studies. * Mining Area Acquisition & Exploration Phase: For an oil and gas field to be established, all geological conditions such as reservoir rock, source rock, trap structure, and seal must be met. Based on various geological data, we predict whether the target area possesses these conditions, determine if it has exploration value, and decide where to drill wells if necessary. Similar studies are conducted for geothermal energy. * Evaluation Phase: If oil or natural gas is found, we analyze well data to create a geological model that estimates the extent of reservoir rock and oil/gas layers, contributing to the feasibility of development and the formulation of development plans. We also evaluate the optimal locations for CCS/CCUS. * Production and Sales Phase: After production begins, we update the geological model using data obtained from the development wells and work with engineers from other fields to achieve optimal production. We also monitor CO2 injected into the ground by CCS. * Geophysical Exploration (Geoscience): We visualize the subsurface through underground exploration using geophysical exploration technologies, evaluate underground resources (oil, natural gas, geothermal) and CCS/CCUS potential, and conduct site selection and development studies. We analyze geophysical exploration data (earthquake, gravity, magnetism, electromagnetic, remote sensing), including reflection seismic surveys, to understand the underground structure and evaluate the properties of reservoirs, searching for structures that contain underground resources such as oil, natural gas, and geothermal energy. From the initial stages of exploration, we are involved in on-site data collection and processing, using a comprehensive interpretation that includes geology and petrophysics to lead to the discovery of oil and gas fields. In the evaluation phase, we integrate well data and geophysical exploration data to create depth structure models and reservoir property distribution models, which serve as input data for geological models. [Drilling (Subsurface)] In oil, natural gas, and geothermal development, we are responsible for drilling wells (boreholes) that reach reservoirs several thousand meters underground using equipment called drilling rigs. Based on underground information, we design boreholes, select equipment and materials, and create work procedures and schedules. Contracting, procuring, and managing the costs of equipment, including drilling rigs, are also crucial tasks. During borehole operations, we visit the site to oversee and manage the work of contractors. To safely and efficiently carry out borehole operations, which cost tens of billions to tens of billions of yen per well, a wide range of engineering knowledge and on-site experience are required, and we utilize this expertise in geothermal well engineering work as well. [Oil Reservoirs (Reservoirs/Subsurface)] We evaluate discovered oil and gas fields, geothermal reservoirs, etc., and recover underground resources such as oil, natural gas, and geothermal energy through the formulation of appropriate development plans and the operation and management of production facilities. We also work on improving recovery rates through secondary and tertiary recovery methods, as well as CCS/CCUS. Oil reservoir engineers are mainly responsible for everything from reservoirs to wells, while production engineers are mainly responsible for everything from wells to production facilities. Based on the analysis results of collected underground fluids and rocks, and data from well tests, we construct reservoir models and conduct simulations to evaluate reserves and formulate development and production plans. After production begins, we analyze the behavior of reservoirs and wells and aim to improve the recovery rate of underground resources by considering and implementing artificial oil extraction methods and secondary and tertiary recovery methods.

Business Producer (Social Design Division)

E-Solutions is not a typical consulting firm; rather, it's a company that engages in "business production"—achieving both "solving social issues" and "maximizing client companies' profits" through new business development. The Social Design Division is engaged in designing (designing) the ideal form of social infrastructure (social) from the perspective of the people, through repeated hypothesis testing and verification, in areas such as "decarbonization," "renewable energy," "hydrogen energy," and "smart cities." As an example, we have numerous ongoing projects addressing social and private company challenges, including ideation, strategy formulation, and implementation support for new business creation involving industry, government, and academia, as well as project management aimed at policy recommendations and deregulation. Beyond basic research and information organization, we involve many stakeholders in project planning, including structurally understanding social issues and creating visions and scenarios, as well as project design that takes into account interpersonal relationships, bottlenecks, and risks. Even young employees are given autonomy and responsibility in participating in projects. ■ Proposal Activities for the Popularization of New Charging Infrastructure that Achieves Both EV Shift and Carbon Neutrality (Developing and promoting business concepts with multiple stakeholders from industry, government, and academia, primarily focusing on automotive-related companies and infrastructure companies) Ex) Wireless charging while driving.
